April 2023 Strengthening Families Webinar: Child Care after the American Rescue Plan
Two years ago, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) provided states with an infusion of temporary funding to help support the child care sector, which had been struggling even before the pandemic because of longstanding federal under-investment and was further destabilized by closures during the pandemic. The temporary funding from ARPA provided relief for child care providers who either closed or were on the verge of closing during the pandemic, as well as supported states in making child care more affordable and accessible to families. Some states took the opportunity to engage with child care stakeholders and communities to move towards sustaining investments in the child care sector to provide accessible and high-quality child care, which research shows is crucial for building protective factors for children and families.

This webinar will present findings from CSSP’s recent research with child care providers and families on the impact of ARPA child care investments in Michigan, Mississippi, and North Carolina, as well as the lessons learned from engaging communities to direct and support these investments. We will also discuss how states are thinking about sustaining child care funding and investments in 2024.

CSSP presenters will include:
- Ellie Kaverman
- Alex Coccia
- Esi Hutchful
- Elisa Minoff

We will also hear updates from CSSP and the Children's Trust Fund Alliance on other work related to Strengthening Families.
